It's time I introduced myself. I'm Paul Johnecheck, 7hird of my name.

I'm a creator and software engineer based out of Detroit, MI. Here you'll find updates on my various projects (game dev and atproto, mostly), little tutorials when I learn something I'd like to share, and anything else I need to write about.

I care a lot about the world and see flawed systems everywhere I look. Yet I'm optimistic. I know we can do better and hope to see that day. I'm inspired by the atproto community; it's thrilling to see such a creative bunch dedicated to building a better internet. Digital spaces should serve us, not sell us. I've contributed little to this movement, but that will be changing soon. I'm working on infrastructure that aspires to combat bot accounts and support human connection by leveraging our preexisting relationships and trust in each other.

I'll be at ATmosphereConf later this month, so expect some updates before then. I can't wait to meet some great people and put what I've built into use!

I'm also building Star Gambit, an upcoming tactical space battle board+web game. The web game is going to be free, zero ads and never pay-to-win. If that interests you, join the discord, try the tutorial, or join the waitlist. Am I insane for solo building a free-to-play multiplayer game (with real-time elements) as my debut title? Probably! Is it awesome anyway? I think so, but you shouldn't take my word for it. Better evidence is the group of friends/family that have been showing up every Sunday for over a year now to playtest. Pretty sure they'd have quit by now if they weren't having fun. Expect an open beta release date announcement soon!
